Seedlings at Organza: From our market to your garden

Every spring/summer, for a number of years, we at Organza have been selling the seedlings from Room To Grow Greenhouse, in Boissevain, Mb. David and Maggie have worked tirelessly to promote organics in Manitoba for many years. Theirs was the first Certified Organic greenhouse in Manitoba, and they have always specialized in Heirloom varieties of vegetables, and have been great educators about little known medicinal and native plants.

The greenhouse was only one very labour intensive aspect of their business. Amongst their many projects, they have also run an eco-guesthouse, and taught straw-bale house construction. This year, they have chosen to focus their energies closer to home, and sadly we were informed that they would no longer make the seedling deliveries into Winnipeg. But we were sad only for a moment, as David informed us that he has been mentoring the nice folks at JUST Community Market Co-operative, in carrying on the growing of seedlings for the Winnipeg market.

JUST Community Market Co-op is Brad, Paulette, Liz and Henri, and they homestead around the area of Strabuck. Mb., and we know that they will become an invaluable part of the Organza Market supplier family. They specialize in growing tomatoes and peppers, and we can't wait to try all the wonderful new varieties that they will be introducing us to this year, through their seedlings. We look forward to having a nice selection of all kinds of garden veg plants as well, as some medicinals, and some flowers, because we all need flowers, even if we can't eat them. We are looking forward to a delivery date of between May19th - May 29th, though stay tuned for a more definite delivery date. Because Organza Market is not a greenhouse, and we do not have the capabilities to have plants in the store for a long period of time, without them getting sad and leggy, and because they are always such a popular feature of the store, the plants will not be in the store for long. We hope that you will not miss this great opportunity to stop by and pick a plant or two from our market for your garden and patio.
